Annual Learning Event 2017 with the theme “ANSAF policy advocacy agenda: Building from the past performance experience”.–Call for papers

The Agricultural Non-State Actors Forum (ANSAF) is a member-led forum whose members come from the commercial sector, non-governmental organizations (both national and international) and farmers’ umbrella organizations in Tanzania. Since its inception in 2006, ANSAF has been promoting learning and sharing among agriculture sector actors. Through a series of learning events, actors from the public and private sectors have been able to adapt and scale up some approaches to support agricultural sector performance. Similarly, learning events have been used to provide the evidence necessary for changes in policy and practices.

You are cordially invited to attend and MAKE A PRESENTATION at the Annual Learning Event (ALE) 2017 to be held at Golden Tulip, (Dar City Centre) Hotel, Dar es Salaam from 28thto 29th November 2017, starting at 08:00 am and closing at 04:30 pm.
The theme of this year’s ALE is: “ANSAF policy advocacy agenda: Building from the past performance experience”. Three thematic areas have been picked to compliment this year’s theme whereby presentations are expected to focus on:

1. Commodity value chain development approaches- which is expected to ignite discussion on which commodity value chains give Tanzania an extra mile towards achieving its industrialization agenda;
2. Social Accountability Monitoring, Budget Analysis, and Public Expenditure Tracking Surveys: Application and emerging issues. This thematic area will allow stakeholders to discuss the application of social accountability monitoring, budget analysis and public expenditure tracking surveys in the improvement of governance and accountability in Tanzania;
3. The role of mass media in leveraging agri-business in Tanzania. The policy agenda of ANSAF is to see issues of concern in the agriculture sector get the attention of people involved in policy and decision making.
A lead paper presentation will be complemented by proven and innovative practices by experienced local and international actors taking into account the country context and regional development. Generated discussions and recommendations will then be used to share with decision and policy makers on a number of fronts including roundtables and dialogues.
Your role, among others, is to prepare a paper with a PowerPoint presentation based on your experience in one of the three thematic areas described above.

You are kindly requested to confirm your participation by 22nd November 2017 to Ms. Regina Mongi – or phone +255 22 2771566, so that logistics can be prepared. For presentation outline, please send to Mbarwa Kivuyo (
